Create a reading from a YouTube video
Use a video’s dialogue to read again and learn words in context. MemorizeKit builds the reading from an available transcript. A video without suitable captions may not import.
Before you start
Sign in and have a link to one public YouTube video ready. An English video with a CC button is a useful starting point. Captions do not guarantee a successful import; private or restricted videos may be unavailable. Use a single-video link, not a playlist.
Follow these steps when YouTube import is available in your account. If the option is missing, choose an existing reading.
Import the video
- Open My Library.
- Choose Import material, then YouTube video.
- Paste the link into YouTube URL. Supported links include
youtube.com/watch,youtu.be, Shorts, and embed links. - Choose Import and wait for the processing message.
- When ready, choose Open reading. If the message says the video is already in the catalog, open that reading and choose Open for listening to add it to your library.
Do you need to keep the dialog open?
You can close the dialog and return through Import history in your library. Closing it does not cancel the import. The percentage is an estimate; wait for confirmation that processing is complete.
A newly created personal reading appears in the Readings tab. If the video is already in your library, the app may reopen that reading instead of making another copy.
If the import fails
- Invalid link: copy the video’s direct link again.
- No transcript found: choose Try another video and use one with public captions.
- Processing or audio failure: read the message and use the retry option if offered. Do not assume the reading is ready yet.
- A limit is shown: follow the displayed limit and continue studying existing readings in the meantime.
